The Parliament@Work website contains information on the members of the Commonwealth and State and Territory Parliaments, and their electorates.
In accessing the content of the site, users may choose to browse or search the information.
Browsing the Parliament@Work Website
Parliamentarians may be browsed under the Parliaments Menu by selecting the relevant parliament and then clicking on parliamentarians under the relevant chamber Upper or Lower House.
Electorates may be browsed under the Parliaments Menu by selecting the relevant parliament and then clicking on electorates under the relevant chamber Upper or Lower House.
Political Parties may be browsed under the Political Parties Menu by selecting the political party.
Searching the Parliament@Work Website
Parliamentarians and Electorates can be search using the Search Menu.
Parliamentarians: To search for a specific parliamentarian select the Search Menu and Parliamentarians. Enter the surname of the Parliamentarian in the surname field and click go. The search may be refined using one or more of the drop down boxes, or entering the parliamentarian's electorate or former occupation.
Electorates: To search for a specific electorate select the Search Menu and Electorates. Enter the name of the electorate in the electorate field and click go. The search may be refined using one or more of the drop down boxes, or entering a postcode locality. Solely entering a postcode or locality will retrieve all the electorates for that postcode or locality, Commonwealth and State/Territory.
The Drop Down Boxes may be used to refine a search for a parliamentarian or electorate, or to retrieve parliamentarians or electorates for a particular selection, or combination of selections. For example, selecting female in the Gender Box will retrieve all female parliamentarians in all Australian Parliaments. This choice may be refined by a selection in another Drop Down Box.
Options provided in drop-down boxes are:
Description (e.g. whether the electorate is in a rural or metropolitan area)
Keyword Search: To search through the database of parliamentarians and electorates, enter your keyword or phrase into the box and press go.
