Location
| West Torrens is bounded in the west by Gulf St Vincent, and in the north by the River Torrens. It includes the Adelaide Airport and the Underdale campus of the University of South Australia. |

Origin
| Named after the West Torrens region. The West Torrens Region was one of the first 'country sections' surveyed by Colonel Light, one of the first settled, and foremost amongst the districts seeking local government status after the proclamation of the Districts Councils Act in 1852. |
