Location Lingiari covers an area of the Northern Territory including Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
   
Origin First proclaimed in 2000, this seat is named in honour of Vincent Lingiari OAM (1908-1988) who was a member of the Gurundji people from the Victoria River District of the Northern Territory. Mr Lingiari was a stockman who led the first succesful Aboriginal land rights claim, and was a recipient of an Order of Australia Medal for services to Aboriginal people.
   
Products/Industries Cattle, tourism, horticulture, fishing, light industry in Alice Springs, bauxite, copper, gold and uranium mining.
