Location
| Araluen covers the western part of the city of Alice Springs, in Australia's centre and the Northern Territory's south. It is a major regional centre and an international tourist destination for people visiting Uluru and the Red Centre. |

Origin
| The electorate takes its name from the residence of the late E J Connellan, whose homestead was near the old Connellan Hangar and strip on the west side of town. It is believed to be an Aboriginal name meaning the place of lagoons and water lilies and running water. |
