Description Metropolitan and rural
   
Location Includes the town of Gawler to the north of the greater Adelaide area. The Light River forms part of the northerly boundary, while the Para River and suburbs to the north of Adelaide form the boundary in the south.
   
Origin Named after Colonel William Light (1786-1839) who was SA's first Surveyor-General. He determined the site for the city of Adelaide, divided it into marketable lots and commenced the division of the state into country sections and township sites.
