Location Perth covers an area bordered by the Swan River to the south and east, the Mitchell Freeway and Charles Street to the west and the suburbs of Morley and Beechboro to the north. Suburbs include the districts of Ashfield, Bassendean, Bayswater, Bedford, Beechboro, Coolbinia, Dianella, East Perth, Eden Hill, Embleton, Highgate, Inglewood, Kiara, Lockridge, Maylands, Menora, Morley, Mt Lawley, Northbridge, North Perth, Perth City, and parts of West Perth and Yokine.
Origin Perth was perth, the Capital City of Western Australia was officially founded on August 12, 1829. It was proclaimed a city by Queen Victoria in 1856. Perth was first proclaimed in 1901. The first election was held for the Division in 1901.
Products/Industries Perth City is Western Australia's centre of Government and contains the State's commercial and professional district. Government House, parks and gardens combined with city shopping complex are a feature of the division. Perth is the western gateway into Australia and has a thriving tourist industry.
