Description Inner metropolitan
   
Location Kooyong is an eastern inner metropolitan electorate covering an area stretching from Kew and Hawthorn in the west to Balwyn and Canterbury in the east and Balwyn North in the north to Hawthorn East and Camberwell in the south. Its suburbs include Balwyn, Balwyn North, Camberwell (part), Canterbury, Glen Iris (part), Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Kew, Kew East and Surrey Hills (part).
   
Origin Kooyong was 'Kooyong' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'camp' or 'resting place'. Kooyong was first proclaimed in 1900. The first election was held for the Division in 1901.
   
Products/Industries Predominantly residential area with no major industries.
